Young Adult Dinner - Winter 2019

Every Fall and Winter we feast with the Young Adult Community at Bethesda (plus their friends/roommates).

This past Dinner on March 10th was possibly our best yet, nearly 200 of us enjoyed amazing food from the Philippines, India, Korea, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Newfoundland!

We want to say a special thank you to everyone who made this day so special, and we are already counting down to the next one! See you on September 15!

Awaken Young Adult Retreat

Can we go back now?

We couldn’t have asked for a better adventure together!

This past January, we joined with other Young Adults from around the Avalon to spend a weekend strengthening our community, worshiping and being inspired by God’s word. We all left this weekend with gratitude, stronger faith, and amazing memories.

Here are some photos to maybe inspire you to join us next time!

YA Cafe: Christmas Party

Christmas_YYT.jpeg

On November 23rd we gathered for a little food, a little music, and a lot of friends (190 friends!) with a Christmas twist. We had a fantastic time enjoying the musical talent of Blue East (and others). We ate a lot of food and had surprise gifts for all of our friends. While some walked away with very elaborate gifts, others left with gifts that were useful but also funny.

We hope everyone enjoyed receiving their Exam Care Kits as well!

Thank you to everyone who brought an hygiene item to donate to THRIVE Choices for Youth Program to support the needs of at-risk youth in #YYT

Young Adult Dinner - Fall 2018

On Sunday, September 16th we celebrated our returning students, our new students and all of our wonderful young professionals with our semi-annual Young Adult Dinner. Our faithful volunteers served approximately 180 postsecondary students, graduate students, and young professionals.

Our Young Adult program serves a lovely community of individuals aged 18-30 who find themselves in St. John’s from all around the globe for school, work or adventure.

Thank You

Again, we must give our thanks to the Social Team at Bethesda, who planned, set up and served wonderful meals!

Thank you to Ricky and Jhoy of RJ Pinoy Yum for catering many of the amazing Filipino dishes!

Thank you the YA advisory team for all of your help in planning and taking polaroids. Also, thanks to everyone who attended the event, without you, it would have just been a lot of food in an empty gym.

Thanks to Pastor Steve Grimes who is the Pentecostal Chaplain on MUN campus for joining us as well! Find out more about Mosaic Campus Church via their Facebook page.

Thank you to Naomi Cousins of Naomi Cousins Photography for these amazing photos!

Enjoy these photos, and we hope we see you again soon!

Valentines for Everyone

What an awesome evening, thanks to everyone who joined us!

On February 8th we celebrated Valentines with a relaxed cafe style gathering. Snacked on an array of deliciousness (ie: My desire to try charcuterie boards which were only successful because of a lot of hard work by Courtney & Allan), and caught some great photos with our photo booth and help from 'resident photographer' Naomi Cousins

Everyone arrived at around 7:30 PM (many via our bus from Memorial University) and we mingled over snacks, some fooseball, and table tennis. We also kind of enjoyed Jonathan Anstey's country playlist, because you can't celebrate valentines without a solid country tune or two.

We ended the evening where the extroverts played a mingling game, and I got to give away a few gift cards (I love giving away things!). The bus returned most of our students at 9 PM, as others arrived and started our weekly evening of basketball (want to join that game next week? Contact us).

I hope you had a great evening, and join us for our next gettogether

Young Adult Dinner - Winter 2018

On Sunday, January 28th we celebrated yet another wonderful Young Adult Dinner as volunteers served over 180 postsecondary students, graduate students, and young professionals.

Thank You

I want to say a huge thank you to Cal Burton for his diligence and passion in organizing this dinner.

Thank you also to the wonderful team he rallied together to help set up, cook, serve, and clean up. You're all remarkable to love on our students the way you do.

Thank you to Ricky and Jhoy of RJ Pinoy Yum for catering many of the amazing Filipino dishes!
